EMAF 33 - N10: Streaming online

News 22 April 2020

EMAF streaming programme now online - at: streaming.emaf.de!

Methods to capture in the present the traces of the past and the breaks in our personal and collective memory. New artistic approaches to places and landscapes in which the ecological and social consequences of excessive economic activity and expansive politics can be read. And the political contexts in which artistic work takes place today - these are just some of the aspects addressed by the 34 films in our streaming programme. They are now available to the public and free of charge at streaming.emaf.de

Until Sunday evening we will show you here a large part of the films from our International Competition. We are happy and grateful to be able to present at least some of the great works selected for the EMAF 2020 to our audience in this way - even though we had imagined this 22 April today, the opening day of the EMAF, to be quite different two months ago.
But because we also don't want to deprive you of what the EMAF 2020 would have originally been about, you will find our festival catalogue on streaming.emaf.de and in the download area of www.emaf.de. With texts, pictures and biographies of the artists, it is intended to be a reference work for a festival that never existed before, and which is unique for another reason: Some of the artists involved in the festival have written, photographed and painted exclusively for the EMAF what the Corona pandemic and the ensuing paralysis of public life meant to them and how it influenced them.

We cordially invite you to take a look at the catalogue and wish you many new insights and changes of perspective in the streaming programme of the EMAF 2020, with works by Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Rheim Alkadhi, Graeme Arnfield, Ben Balcom, Bambitchell (Sharlene Bamboat & Alexis Mitchell), Andrés Baron, Andreas Bunte & Stefan Panhans, Charlotte Clermont, Thirza Cuthand, Zachary Epcar, Ryan Ferko, Thorsten Fleisch, Elise Florenty & Marcel Türkowsky, Chloé Galibert-Laîné, Masha Godovannaya & Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński, Onyeka Igwe, Vika Kirchenbauer, Yen-Chao Lin, Anne Linke, Simon Liu, Marko Mijatovic, Nour Ouayda, Jaakko Pallasvuo, Alee Peoples, Morgan Quaintance, Steve Reinke, Ben Rivers, Tanoa Sasraku, Salma Shamel, Mike Stoltz, Ana Vaz, Yuyan Wang, WangShui and William Andreas Wivel.

In the coming days, our juries will discuss which of these artists will be honoured with the three EMAF prizes next Sunday - we will keep you informed.

Many thanks to all artists and supporters of the festival - stay healthy!
